4. The Student Visit
The School Secretary will call you to schedule a school visit for your child. For student ages 3-5, this visit typically lasts 30 minutes. For students applying for 1st level through 8th level, Lower Elementary and Upper Elementary, applicants will spend at least one half day in the classroom with the teacher and their peers. Student visits for the 2009-2010 school year are currently being scheduled, and classroom visits occur throughout the school year.
5. Acceptance
Acceptance of a child is based on several factors. One of these factors is the match of the family’s and the school’s educational goals for the child. Siblings of present contracted students are given priority. New applicants are selected for the remaining spaces. One of our goals is to maintain gender and age balance within the classrooms. Evaluations from the child’s present school (if applicable) also play an important part in the review process. Each application is reviewed by the Principal. Families will be notified by mail or phone. Accompanying the acceptance letter is an Enrollment Contract which must be completed and returned to the school within fourteen days. The tuition contract is sent to you upon receipt of your 2008 tax forms. 10% of the Sliding Scale Tuition rate is due with the tuition contract.
6. Waiting List
Applicants will be placed on our waiting list if there are no openings for the child. You will be notified when a space becomes available.
How much is the tuition for students attending Mercy?
Mercy is unique when determining tuition for your child. Using a sliding scale, tuition is based on the yearly income of the family. In addition, families may apply for financial aid. Further discounts are provided for families that have more than one child in the school.
Tuition Contracts are mailed to families in April. All information regarding payment options are posted with the tuition contracts.
