Playhouse in the Park Visits Mercy Montessori

The upper elementary was excited to welcome the Playhouse in the Park to Mercy Montessori on October 9th.  They performed “High School Alien,”  a play about an alien who is a refugee from outer space.  The play’s themes included bullying, the price of trying to become a member of “the popular group,” and the meaning of true friendship.  There was a preshow workshop at school that helped prepare the students for the themes presented in the play which included discussions and acting games.  There was also a post show question and answer session which gave the students insights into the technical side of putting together a production, as well as further understanding of the characters and the topics of the play.  The students truly enjoyed the production and the interaction with the actors!
